Is there anything quite like the sound of a supercar engine starting up?

Can you imagine cruising around in one of the fastest and most luxurious cars in the world, complete with an all-leather interior and surround sound speakers.

You may need deep pockets to acquire these engineering masterpieces from likes of Bugatti, Ferrari, Koenigsegg and Pagani as the cost can go up into the millions.

Let's take a look at which are most luxurious cars in the world.

20Koenigsegg CCXR - $700,000

The Koenigsegg CCXR was the predecessor to the Agera and was one of the finest supercars of its day back when it was released in 2008 at the Geneva Motor Show.

With a carbon fibre shell chassis reinforced with kevlar and aluminium honeycomb the CCXR is powered by a 4.7 Litre twin supercharged V8 engine.

The CCXR differs from the CCX version as its engine was converted to use ethanol fuel in a bid to make the car more 'environmentally friendly'.

The switch gave the engine more power and was able to generate 1,018 horse power.

This supercar was so impressive that even boxing legend Floyd 'Money' Mayweather made it part of his collection when he bought the limited edition CCXR Trevita for a knockout price of $2.6 million.

19The Porsche 918 Spyder – $930,000

This powerful plug-in hybrid from German manufacturer Porsche is powered by a 4.6 litre V8 engine.

Unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show production of the Spyder took place between 2013 and 2015 where 918 units were made.

The V8 engine produces 599 horse power and is supplemented by two electric motors delivering an additional 282 horse power.

This efficient use of power means this beast can go from 0-62mph in 2.2 seconds, putting to rest any doubts that electric cars could match their gas counterparts.

The Spyder was arguably the most advanced electric model on the road at the time it was in production.

18Zenvo ST1 - $1,200,000

Created by the Danish company Zenvo Automotive the Zenvo ST1 is the high performance supercar with a V8 twincharged V8 engine that generates 1,089 horsepower.

It has a top speed of 233mph and goes from 0-62mph in just 3 seconds.

The Zenvo ST1 was the Danish company's first model and is created by a small team of engineers entirely by hand with the exception of a high performance 5 axis CNC router.

17Hennessey Venom GT - $1,250,000

Manufactured by the Texan based Hennesy Performance Engineering, the Venom GT first appeared in 2011.

Only a handful of these models exist as 7 coupés and 6 Spyders were only ever created between 2011 and 2017.

In 2013, the Venom GT set a Guiness World Record for the fastest road legal car from 0-185mph in an average time of 13.63 seconds.

The Venom GT Spyder is the open top version of the Venom GT after Aerosmith legend Steven Tyler asked Hennessey for this extra functionality.

16Pagani Huayra - $1,400,000

Produced by Italian sports car manufacturer Pagani, the Huayra is named after a Quechua wind god in case you didn't already know!

15Ferrari LaFerrari - $1,400,000

LaFerrari ('The Ferrari') is the Italian automotive manufacturers' hybrid sports car and last supercar with a 12-cyclinder engine.

This fiery beauty was first unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Show and during production only 499 were ever produced.

It is the first full hybrid produced by Ferrari and provided the highest power of any road legal Ferrari model whilst decreasing fuel consumption by approximately 40%.

The V12 engine has a maximum power output of 789 horsepower and has a top speed of 220 mph.

It can go 0-62 mph in under 3 seconds. Whilst it doesn't match other supercars for its performance it certainly makes up for that in style.

14Koenigsegg Agera S - $1,460,000

Manufactured by the Swedish company, Koenigsegg, the Agera S was introduced in 2012, specifically for markets where E85 fuel was unavailable when rendered all the power of the Agera R meaningless.

The supercar can hit 62 mph in under 3 seconds and can reach 188 mph.

This sleek Rimac Concept One is the Croatian supercar that is a limited edition and was manufactured by Rimac Automobili.

Similarly to Tesla Rimac Automobili was only established in 2009 from its founder's (Mate Rimac) garage with the sole purpose of creating the first generation of electric sports cars.

The environmentally friendly supercar can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.5seconds and at the time of its production in 2013, it claimed to be the fast electric vehicle in the world.

15 units of the vehicle were produced before Rimac focused on the Concept S - the lighter and more powerful version of the Concept One.

12Aston Martin One-77 - $1,900,000

The gorgeous Aston Martin One-77 is another classic from the famous luxury British sports car manufacturer that made its debut in 2008 and started making deliveries in 2011.

The '77' in the title refers to the fact that there are only 77 every made for the company's elite buyers.

It is the fastest Aston Martin ever made and goes from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds.

This elite performance is due to the super fast V12 engine and 7.3 litre tank that is able to generate 750 horsepower.

11Mercedes AMG One - $2,720,000

The Mercedes-AMG One is the highly anticipated limited production plug-in hybrid sports car which features Formula One (F1) technology.

Mercedes announced that they will only produce 275 units of the in-demand supercar despite receiving orders for four times that.

Due to be released in 2021 designer Gordon Wagener used F1 technology for the powertrain which will provide 1,39 horsepower via what is called a 'hybrid drivetrain'.

It has a top speed of 217mph and will go from 0-62mph in 2.2 seconds.

10Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse - $2,900,000

The Vitesse has a maximum power output of 1,184 horsepower and can go from 0-62mph in 2.6 seconds.

On normal roads the 8.0 Litre W6 quad turbocharged Vitesse is electronically limited to 233mph.

Because going beyond 233mph on normal roads would be unsafe but going 233mph is fine!

9Lamborghini Sesto Elemento - $2,920,000

Built in 2010 and put on display at the Paris Motor Show, the Sesto Elemento is another super car from the Italian manufacturer, Lamborghini.

It was the first supercar where the chassis, body, drive shaft and suspension components were all made from carbon fibre to produce this extremely lightweight V10 super car edition.

The engine is a 5.2 Litre Lamboghini V10 and during its production between 2010 and 2012, the Italian company only ever made 20 of them.

Unlike the 300+ the Super Sport does not come with interior stiffening and has more leather in the interior.

Like all the Bugatti's speed is at the forefront of their design as this monster can go from 0-124mph in just 5.8 seconds, which is quicker than it takes me to get off the couch!
